Green Leaves LP

1.
Sitting here with a glass of wine People on the street are taking all their time Looking for an answer, when the stars align I can take a picture of a satellite Spin through space, I'll surround you In your place, walls around you I'll surround you Sitting, I can take my time Even though I know we're moving all the time I can take a picture when the stars align All my life, I'll surround you
2.
Slingshot 03:23
Gone Dad, I'm gone On the corner with you I'm a slingshot, too Lies Dad, I'm lies On the corner with you I'm a slingshot, too
3.
If I was born in the back of a car On a highway to nowhere Lost in the stars of my mother's eyes Of my mother's eyes Could I become Something more real Than the man that I am Lost like the stars in the stormy skies In the stormy skies I hate the rain More than the song That I sing in the morning when all the love is gone In a billion years We'll live inside the sun I'd like to fall in love But even more I'd like to run Words paint the pictures of highways and stars That I see in the back of mind And they all seem so far away So far away I can remember, late in the night, Standing out on the street With only the light of the moon to call Of the moon at all Now that I'm lost to a city of light Standing out on the corner I never get it right In a billion years We'll live inside the sun I'd like to fall in love But even more I'd like to run
4.
There is no guarantee that you will love me tomorrow There is no guarantee that we could ever forget The flowers on trees as they come when the summertime sets There is no guarantee that we could ever remember The simple lines of poetry we spoke when we met Words are reminders of everything I'll never get back Like memories of summertime that die in the winter The leaves on the trees when they're green and they get Down on my mind 'cause I love you but I don't know yet Down on my mind 'cause I love you but I don't know yet
5.
Don't you know I love your toes Hidden in the shadows In the night I walk Where the streets are filling up with carnivals and talk Where the painters paint the shadow of your fingernails on chalk Where the coffee drinkers chatter and the alcoholics balk Where the poets paint our pictures with their words on the sidewalk Don't you know I stole a rose Hid it in your shadows In the night I'll walk To your window and pretend that we're characters who talk About our parents and our brothers and our sisters and our walks In the morning we'll be sleeping in a dream of somewhere dark Where the poets paint our pictures with their words on the sidewalk

Island 05:37
When I was down Out on the water I heard the sound Of the trees If there was time Time for another We could take in The sights we see But the summer Is a bummer For an island For an island What can I hold Out in my hand I'm an island I'm an island Hold me close now 'Fore the trees gone To the summer gold Hold my fingers In your fingers 'Till your fingers cold I'm an island I'm an island I'm an island Oh no
7.
If you gotta light a cigarette, wait 'till I'm uptown I don't wanna you see sitting there With your hair pulled back And your t-shirt on And your silence like the sound If you gotta go to somewhere far, wait 'till I'm uptown Sitting in the fields of Central Park With my shirt tucked in And my sneakers on And your silence all around Here inside my car I can see the stars Far from all the light I miss you tonight So, if you gotta go and break a heart, wait 'till I'm uptown Looking at a painting of the stars And you're all around
8.
Waiting around on the ocean for you I'm tired Singing a song for the whiny girls Waiting around while the world sets the world on fire Waiting around for the stars to swirl I bet it all on a bed of roses, ha Ha ha ha ha ha you stole it, too Waiting around while my world is a world on fire Waiting around and I love you, too Waiting around 'till the water's gone And the sun sets for the last time
9.
ooh
10.
Sitting there on the back of the porch Soaking in the sun I'll grow old like the rest of us I'm just like everyone On the back of a city bus On the top of a car I'm not going anywhere 'Till I see the stars I've been drinking coffee now Drinking 'till I'm cool Walking out into the sun To the shallow pool When I get to Hollywood On the back of a car I'm not going anywhere 'Till I see the stars Shining out in the summer night 'Till there's something real Something growing in my mind I can hardly feel When I drive on country roads Looking at the trees Singing all my harmonies Singing as I please There's no one to tell me what I should probably do I'll leave that to everyone Leave that up to you Leave that to the summer nights To the skies in spring There's no one to tell you now What a life can bring

about

A lot can come to pass in a season. When Richard Aufrichtig set out to write a song for every day of Spring, he was unsure what would come of it. He began with the unknown.
What emerged was a story – a narrative of love, loss and the renewal of life – a skeleton key for the seasons to come.
